To be honest, I was skeptical that the dvd was going to be any good. It looked to be on one of those new DVD-R discs that never likes playing on my old Toshiba dvd player. The only extra was about a half hour of trailers and the movie itself had a single chapter on the dvd menu. The movie didn’t even come in a regular dvd case with a dvd cover I use to get some of the technical information for my reviews. Sounds like a lost cause, right?

So I sat down in my comfortable reviewing chair and put the dvd into my player. I hit the remote and yup, it didn’t play. Feeling stiffed at the prospect of having 5 dvd porno’s that won’t play on my primary machine, I figured I’d try a beat up no name brand player that cost under $60 last year. Guess what? That’s right, it played just fine. I further investigated with several friend’s machines and computer players and my old Toshiba was the only one that had trouble. Figures!

Well, I was ready to trash the movie in my review when I started noticing the watermark on the screen. I know Evil Angel puts out some dvd’s with one as do a handful of other companies but even though it’s small, it bothered me. I started to watch the movie when something else caught my eye. The blonde performer, Kristen, shows up on the screen. In a heartbeat, I forgot all about the watermark. I did notice that the production values were actually pretty good although the picture was better than the audio.

The first scene had Kristen and her significant other, Ken, on a chair in the corner of a room. No fancy props or setting, just a chair not unlike the one I was sitting in. Her curvy body looked great and the two of them proceed to have some oral sex, a titty fuck, and vaginal sex. The thing that really stood out for me was that the sex was far less mechanical than most porn I had watched. It was also much more playful with a lot of foreplay which seems off limits in “professional” porn. No condoms were used and the scene lasted about 30 minutes.

Okay, as much as I wanted to hate this dvd, it was a lot of fun to watch the first scene. I figured it was just a fluke and that scene number two would suck in a bad way. Well, it didn’t. Most of this scene was Kristen playfully dancing around the guy until she gave him a BJ. Again, the better part of 30 minutes without the corny, staged sex I was used to. By the end of the show, I was wishing that I could’ve had a table dance from her. I wondered about a technical glitch that had the screen blanking out for a bit at the end but otherwise, it was great.

Okay, wanting to give you a head’s up here, I checked out the compatibility issue further. The company will make good on problems so that’s not a big deal. Yeah, they could improve the extra’s and the dvd mastering a bit but the picture was better than many porno’s I had seen over the last several years. The audio was about average but that’s still more than I thought I could expect given the whole amateur concept.

One of my friend’s pointed out that she felt a lot more at ease with these movies based on the sex itself-she likes lots of foreplay- and the fact that the couple looked more “real” than the glammed up “hookers (her words) that my porno’s usually focus on. A stinging criticism of porn in general by her but she had a point. The sex was fun, the technical values good enough, and the entire project was a refreshing change of pace for me. As such, I gave it a “4″ but a lot of people will like it more than a jaded old porn hound like me.
